The Following is a message from Tanveer Yasser for the VATIND events team
VATIND event team members ( Tanveer Yasser ,Jwalant Swadia and Ahmed Ahsen )
"The southwestern summer monsoons occur from June through September.
During this hot summer, the Indian subcontinent heats up, causing
winds to rush from the Indian Ocean toward the Himalayas. The
Himalayas act as a wall, causing the air to rise. With the gain in
altitude of the clouds, the temperature drops and precipitation
occurs. Some areas of the subcontinent receive up to 10,000 mm (390
in) of rain. For pilots flying the region, it means: rain and storm
clouds, IFR procedures, go-arounds, waiting in holding, wet runways –
and a lot of thrill & fun!
South Asians love spices. To spice up the monsoon too, VATIND invites
you to experience monsoon madness in Magical Mumbai. Expect
professional and friendly ATC on August 07, 2010 from 1400z to 1600z
if not later. As the first event of the monsoon series, Mumbai offers
you intersecting ILS-equipped runways with simultaneous operation,
approach over hill-rock and departure over the Arabian Sea.
If you like what you are reading, you definitely need to come and
experience everything yourself. Check your instruments and brakes, add
extra fuel, get signed the flight release certificate, slam the
throttles and head towards India!
